Keeping pace with the CBSE guidelines, G D Goenka Public School, Bhubaneswar organized an educative programme on teenage girls’ health and hygiene issues entitled MOM and ME on 22 Nov, 2022 in the school premises.
The girls and mothers of grades 5, 6 and 7 attended the event. Dr Nirmala nagarade Gadde graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and Speaker of the day. Dr Nirmala was felicitated with a bouquet of flowers by DOAA of the school, Mr Pradeep Kumar Ray.
Coming to the main event, Dr Nirmala discussed two main topics “adolescence” and “menstrual health and hygiene” . She explained the roles of hormones like estrogens, progesterone and how do they make the mood swings in women. She encouraged the young girls to not only focus on good looks but also on behavior as well.
She motivated the mothers to provide the girls with a balanced diet compulsorily. She discussed the menstrual issues and how to take care of the girls during puberty.
Most importantly, she mentioned about the vaccines which can prevent cancer in young girls. She enlightened the mothers and the young girls to ensure that they don’t get any infection.
She beautifully explained how our Indian culture is typically designed to make people aware of health and hygiene.
Her reference to Bhagvat Gita by insisting on our KARMA had made the public aware of the nuances of our deep-rooted culture.
The one-hour programme was indeed an eye-opening session for all who attended it.
