This philosophy reflects the life and leadership journey of Prasant Mohapatra, an internationally acclaimed academician, researcher, and visionary leader.
Prof. Mohapatra currently serves as the Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs at the University of South Florida, USA. Prior to this, he held the distinguished position of Vice Chancellor for Research at the University of California, Davis (UC Davis), where he also served as a Distinguished Professor in the Department of Computer Science. Over his three-decade-long academic career, he has held several senior leadership roles including Chair of the Department, Dean and Vice-Provost of Graduate Studies, Associate Chancellor, and Interim Vice-Provost & CIO.
Born and brought up in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, Prof. Mohapatra combines strong roots with a global outlook, having engaged academically and professionally in more than 50 countries. He is deeply passionate about K–12 education and firmly believes in providing a holistic learning experience that nurtures students from all backgrounds to achieve their fullest potential.
An internationally recognized researcher, his areas of expertise include wireless networks, mobile communications, cybersecurity, and Internet protocols. He has authored more than 400 research papers in leading journals and conferences worldwide. He has also served as a Visiting Professor and Scientist at several renowned global institutions and organizations.
Prof. Mohapatra is a Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS). His numerous accolades include the Outstanding Engineering Alumni Award from The Pennsylvania State University, the Distinguished Alumnus Award from the National Institute of Technology, Rourkela, and the prestigious Biju Patnaik Lifetime Scientific Excellence Award from the Government of Odisha.
