Physics Laboratory
Physics is that branch of science where experimentation is an integral part of the core subject.
The Physics Laboratory in GDGPS, BBSR is well equipped with equipment’s to help students learn the concepts of Physics with application. The experiments are carried out in accordance with the curriculum. It is designed to give practice of taking measurements, analyzing data and drawing inferences while conducting experiments.
The laboratory is quite spacious and well ventilated to ensure proper availability of light in it. The laboratory can accommodate 40 students at a time. The lab is well equipped with instrument like meter bridges, battery eliminators, potentiometers, lenses, mirrors, magnets, pendulums, charts, models etc.
Physics Lab aims at developing the ability of students to rationally defend their conclusions and predictions, effective and valued participation with their peers and their teacher in a cooperative intellectual manner.
chemistry Laboratory
A chemistry lab is a place where experiments related to chemistry are conducted. They are usually set up at schools and universities to teach students the different types of chemical reactions, how chemicals interact with each other, and the energy involved in the same. Chemistry labs at GDGPS,BBSR adhere to a certain pattern of setting up everything. This is to ensure uniformity and easy access to everything the students need while performing experiments on their own.
• We have a common counter, tiled with slate or marble tiles, for the students to perform experiments on.
• The counters have sinks installed in them with a water supply so that the students can use the water for experiments as well as for cleaning the apparatus they use.
• The chemicals the student need in order to perform the most basic experiments are placed right in front of them on top of a shelf dedicated specifically for that reason.
A chemistry lab is quite important because it helps students visualize what they learn in theory and witness first hand what they learn as a chemical equation.
Biology Laboratory
Biological research indicates the first forms of life on Earth were microorganisms that existed for billions of years before the evolution of larger organisms. In general, a biology laboratory is a room where biological studies, analyzes and experiments are carried out. G D Goenka public school, BBSR has a well-equipped Biology laboratory with microscopes, preserved specimens, slides, models and bio-visual charts which emphasis on developing scientific temper among students. In the Biology lab, the students are encouraged to learn through experiments and understand various concepts beyond their books away from the conventional classroom teaching. Observations and experiments make learning more interesting and fun. Students enjoy performing experiments as they learn something new from the results. Every student here gets a chance to perform the practical themselves under the supervision of the teachers.
Composite Laboratory
Laboratory, Place where scientific research and development is conducted and analyses performed, in contrast with the field or factory. G D Goenka Public school BBSR has three different science labs along with one composite lab.
Composite lab is equipped with all the basic equipments, required for science experiments according to CBSE high school syllabus .
Mathematics Lab
The role of a Goenkan Maths teacher in a math lab is not to teach, but to facilitate inquiry in mathematics. This could either be done by posing probing questions, offering an extra resource or asking to discuss with peers.
How do we make a difference in learning mathematics by conducting classes in the Math Lab :–
• Context and opportunity to discover through doing. Through activities students learn to do through concrete activities thus laying down a firm foundation for more abstract thinking.
• Offers more scope for individual participation. It encourages students to become independent learners and allows them to learn at their own pace.
• It widens the experiential base and lays groundwork for later learning of new areas of mathematics and helps to make appropriate connections between the known and unknown in mathematics.
• Rules and constraints play an important role in mathematical problems. By fearlessly engaging with puzzles and games they have an opportunity to alter the rules and constraints. Thus becoming aware of the role of rules and constraints in mathematics.
• Math lab helps develop meta-cognitive abilities. As the student can rethink and rework the problem and solution several times without any interference from time constraints.
• It builds up inherent interest and confidence in the student towards learning and doing mathematics.
• Lastly it adds variety in all school mathematics learning.
ICT Lab
Technology plays a major role in twenty-first-century education. The new model of integrating technology into the curriculum means that computers are on-demand throughout the school day. The computer lab is important to enhance the scientific and technological research and invention capacity of our students. We have an updated computer lab with latest softwares and advanced technical aids.
Goenkans work on learning programming, and automation and improving basic computer skills. That will help them later to define their career goals, entrepreneurship, and job opportunities. For skills development, students need to practice.
ICT lab usage @ The Goenkan way
• Students can code and can build new educational apps.
• They can use document writing and editing application to create notes and write books.
• They can build their own websites and blogs.
• They can practice math equations in Microsoft Excel.
• Students can learn to use the internet in which they can pay fees online, they can join online classes, can participate with online students’ communities on projects and assignments.
• If students have access, they can learn, practice, and improve their Hindi, and English typing skills.
• Students can practice video conferencing with teachers, online education, and many other educational activities through online computer applications.
• Students can use computers for ART education. (Multimedia)
• And the most important thing for all students can learn the latest technologies such as artificial intelligence, robotics, data analytics, and cloud computing, the Internet of things and many others.
